Alleys In a dark alley where one denies reason And emotions give way to paths long bidden , But not in the least necessary; In a moment of confusion when you grasp and grope on to something you thought felt right; When, after a while, you realize, It wasn't for you after all, when seen under the light and that is was confusion that brought you here in the first place. Somehow, you wish that the whisper you heard and heeded, that called to you in the dark street never sung it's sweet sound. Though the light hurts your eyes, you get used to the idea that, to save it, you had to leave And to try to forget though you know not How far the alley goes nor where it leads You accept today's pain to forego the greater pain of having it longer and leaving for time only consumes you later You look at the hand that holds your own and wish that you had another way But under the light, the confusion ends and acceptance fills it's void... Slowly, you let go.
